It’s that time again! IMATS came to London last weekend and of course the beauty and make-up addicts all came out to play!
After visiting IMATS in 2013 I knew is the major event for me and my work. IMATS offers variety of seminars with leading artists in the industry, all day long remarkable presentations run by creative and best artists in every booth, you can test and swatch almost all products, so its amazing because at IMATS is lots of brands that haven’t got store in UK, almost all brands have discounted prices (usually within 15% up to 30% + in Sunday you can grab some additional price reductions!) and networking with all this fantastic people, exchanging knowledge and ideas.
After IMATS 2013 I knew that I am going to stock 80% of my kit in that place every year! So here I am again – London 2014!
So I made my plans quite early. I was lucky enough to grab in March book last one cheap 3 bed apartment – that is absolutely next to Kensingotn Olimpia! (just 2 min walk to the show, Morissons and Sainsbury, Costa text to our place!!!). I found quickly two fantastic MUAs (Anna and Marta) that was happy to join and share the costs! We all booked our return tickets with Megabus, sadly trains in UK are too expensive… So Friday night at 3 am (!) we had our bus to London, Sunday 6pm return to Leeds.
I had to get ready my make-up in bus because we arrived just after 8am, and there was no time to do it in later! It was first time ever I was doing it – heh I was forced to put my skills on extreme test 🙂
On the left side is my make-up from Saturday – photo taken in bus after finishing it 😛 so not bad I think. (I used No7 foundation, Illamasqa gel liner, Inglot eyeshadows, L’oreal lip gloss, hint of highlighter and bronzing pearls from Avon + Chaos Make-up Artist highlighter in minxii). Next day, Sunday I’ve put on test my new make-up and brushes! – Pictures middle and right. (Make-up Atelier Paris eyeshadows, Kryolan eyeshadow primer, Kryolan brown kayal, Kryolan slimliner #22, MUFE aquabrow #25, Paperself corner lashes – butterfly, Illamasqua foundation, Inglot under eye canceller/corrector, Chaos Make-up Artist highlighter in minxii, bronzing pearls from Avon). And in this point I need to add small note: My make-up made on Sunday – was extremely long lasting! It last long without any smudge or crease until late night – and it was over 12h!
Lets back now to the event… I took only few pictures, I was little bit overwhelmed with entire show, after buying my must have list in Saturday, I felt lost in Sunday, unsure that more I should buy…. I get lost within stands a lot… all time I couldn’t find the right one.
I enjoyed seminars:
- Editorial Make-up to Avant Garde with Einat Dan – She have absolutely fantastic skills! Movement of her hand are fast, even, steady.
- Another one – Fashion Color Make-up with Denis Kartashev become small disappointment. His work is famous and absolutely amazing (even if you don’t recognize his name – more likely you may recognize his work) however his presentation was little bi to abstract to me and my friends….
- In Sunday Karla Powell made her amazing presentation – Power of airbrushing. I am not interested in airbrushing but I love Karla’s work so I decided to check this out. I like it a lot, but probably the most interesting part for me was applying vibrant pink lipstick model’s lips! Karla runs her lip art workshops so you could learn of precision and correct applying – but I would not be able to join it in summer – so I was happy to see it step by step.
Unfortunately I had no time to watch more seminars – I had to many products to test, check, and I also meet so many friends and fantastic, famous people , additionally all the stands presented very inspiring and creative work – I couldn’t pass trough without quick chat 🙂 – so I haven’t got enough time to check more seminars. Yes this year was very busy and I just can’t wait next year!
About my IMATS shopping you can read in this post: imats-london-2014-haul
I was delighted to met personally some more famous and experienced people, artists and vlogers e.g. one my gurus KatOsu (PL), EnKoreMakeup, Gary Cockerill, Karla Powell of course, Grace Coole-Green, Yolanda Bartram, Maria Malone-Guerbaa
I was delighted to met another artists that I know from Facebook e.g, Magdalena Skoczylas MUA, Abbie Wallace McDonald Mua. I had big surprise by meting Mariwka Waluniwka – model that I work with on very beginning of my Make-up Artistry.
Big kisses to everybody and I wishing all of you even bigger success!
Oh I shame that we haven’t met. But I agree with you with regards to Denis… He was a bit boring and makeup that he shows wasn’t exciting at all. The rest was great except queue to Nyx stand 🙂
Louise we have to share mobile nr next time 🙂 and yes I forget to mention about nyx queue – yes, I even didn’t bother to stand and wait…. 😉
