I am always tend to create my own, unique work reather then copy of others work. I do try search for inspirations out of make-up industry.
My very first inspiration for this look was dress made with Beetle Wings in “Snow White and the Huntsman” by three-time Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood. Also the huge influence in designing my make-up had The China Fashion Week – with very unusual 3d makeups.
After that I made huge researches about beetle wings…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beetlewing. It was common in some of the ancient refined cultures of Asia to attach beetle wing pieces as an adornment to paintings, textiles and jewellery. Modern beetle wing work is usually applied on simple items, like earrings and collage work, also some designers decorate clothing.
In the end – I was totally in love in this iridescent bright colours! And then I had light bulb moment ! I haven’t found no one who used in in makeup ! I said – Why not…to be the very first you will do it!
Preparation took a months… however planning and preparation was not that time consuming – all was depand from delivery of my beetlewings from Thailand, searching for matching stuff like crystals glitters… Altrough beetlewings are in sale in UK but order from abroad become cheaper and beter value…
Through researches I have found interesting information – Beetle wings are termo-active! – it means that normally their iridescent colour is about green-yellow tones, but if you get bake it in oven they will change the colour to green-blue-purple.
Before taking part in Warpaint Make-up Competition at London – organized by Professional Beauty: I’ve won 3rd Place! – I made test photoshoots with Marian Wodzisz Photography and my model Beth Jones. I have to admit that non of the picture shows real colours! This babies are so iridescent so it’s hard to show it on photos – possibly the video is the closer the reality!
Eyelashes and nails also was matched for this look. I used Eldora Eeyelashes – I decorated it with iridescent nail crystals, glitters and green caviar.
Few photos taken by my dear friend Karen Boyle from my competition!
I have to add that this lovely lade and her Wardrobe department designed and made matching dress for my model! Her work is toughly amazing it was honour that she wonted to help me!
